20 Nov November in the studio
It’s hard to believe that it is half way through November already. With the Internets Black Friday next week (which has now become a global event) things are starting to get busy in the studio. And as I sit writing this we have had a break in all the rainy weather and the sun is shining in through the window.
I was working on a keepsake box order this week that I added a few little extra special touches to. I was using a vintage map of the Henley on Thames area in England and had enough remaining from the map to make some map confetti and I also made a little envelope to put all the confetti into. You can see the little pocket envelope tucked into the inside lid of the keepsake box in the photo below. The customer also asked for a more antique style handle for the front which I sourced instead of the timber handle.
I also had the bottom of the section of the old map still intact so I rolled it into a little scroll. You can see it below. It has the sheet number of the map. And all the legends and signs on how to read the map and so how to read your keepsake box. I can’t always include these exact little extras as I am always working with vintage maps, but when I can put in something unexpected for my customers I love to do it.
In other news I’ve also added Dublin to our map confetti mix. You can buy the little packs of confetti here. You can pick out Pearse Station in one of the little map hearts in the image below. I am considering making a personalised version of the confetti where people can have their own wording on the outside. I’m thinking of it as an option for weddings. What think you all? (opinions in the comment section)
I got the most lovely review from Emma, which definitely made my week. Because so much of what I sell is online I don’t often get to meet my customers face to face so when I get feedback like this or hear how the person it was given to loved it, it makes my day!
The best bits from around the web
This last week has been filled with a lot of sadness filling our airwaves, TV’s and social media streams. But how this father explained the power of flowers to his son made made me smile. See here
