09 Apr Beautiful Book Storage
Someday I will have beautiful book storage, floor to ceiling walls of books but until that day arrives my day dreams (and Pinterest) shall keep me going. I have always loved that Plato quote that a house that has a library in it has a soul.
Books on Display
Using a large style mirror as a centre piece on your bookshelf. I love how this reflects back the rest of the room, though I do wonder are there books behind there? How do they get at them? These are the questions that keep me up at night
Floating Shelves
I always think these look magical, like a precariously stacked pile of books just waiting to tumble. Perfect for gaining extra space in an otherwise unused corner.
Books and Stairs
I feel like this is a match made in heaven, those little wasted spaces that come with stairwells and steps. I have seen many versions of this done well and not so well. So I have pulled together some of my favourites below.
I really love how this design makes such a feature of the book storage but also keeps it simple, with clean lines at the same time.
Books in between
There are so many transitory spaces in our houses that are just calling out to be filled with books. These are my favourites.
I love how this combines books and other memorabilia and turns a corridor space into a clever storage solution that is also an attractive display unit.
This corridor book space I love for two reasons, firstly well there’s books but secondly the seating space is super clever AND I would totally create extra storage here by making the seat tops open up.
“A house that has a library in it has a soul.” – Plato
I love the natural light coming into this space, and the full height books shelves that are on each wall make it feel warm and cosy. I can imagine myself cosying up here for an hour or two (or three!) on a weekend afternoon with my favourite book.
